A randomised controlled trial of lisdexamfetamine for the treatment of acute methamphetamine withdrawal

This Cracks in the Ice webinar presentation introduced the Oral Lisdexamphetamine for (OLAM) project, a recently launched multi-site, placebo-controlled RCT evaluating the use of a tapering dose of lisdexamphetamine for methamphetamine

This 1-hour free webinar was held at 12 pm Sydney time on Tuesday 26th May 2026 and introduced the nested First Nations sub-study, a qualitative study using yarning methodology that will assess the needs and experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participants in the OLAM trial.

Following the presentation, there was a Q&A session with questions from webinar attendees. This webinar will be relevant for researchers, people who use methamphetamine, family and community members.

Presenters: This webinar was presented by Ms Julie Matheson and Professor Michael Doyle. 

Ms Julie Matheson is an early career First Nations researcher at the University of Sydney. She has experience working in neuroscience, mental health and addictions research.

Professor Michael Doyle is a Bardi man from the Kimberley Region of Western Australia. He has worked in Aboriginal health for over 20 years, commencing his career as an Aboriginal Health Worker at the Broome Regional Aboriginal Medical Service. He is a mixed-methods researcher with a focus on alcohol and other drug (AoD) treatment for Aboriginal men involved in the criminal justice system.
