Co-developing culturally appropriate lived experience videos about crystal methamphetamine

This webinar explored the partnership between Cracks in the Ice and Garuwa, a First Nations-owned and led impact-driven production company that believes in the power of storytelling, to produce three videos highlighting the lived experience of people impacted by crystal use. This 1-hour free webinar was held on Tuesday 25th November 2025 at at 12pm Sydney time and presented by Tariq Isaacs and Genevieve Grieves.

This webinar discussed:  

  • Why it was important to develop lived experience video resources about
  • How the videos were produced including co-design process, challenges, and creative approach
  • The reach and impact of the lived experience video resources

Following the presentation, there was a live Q&A session with questions from webinar attendees. This webinar is relevant for researchers and community members.

Presenters:

Tariq Isaacs is a Waliwan man from Coonamble and an Indigenous Engagement Assistant at the Matilda Centre for Research in Mental Health and Substance Use. Tariq has had placement in various roles as part of Indigenous based organisations over the years, assisting on projects to improve the health outcomes for individuals, families, and communities especially among disadvantaged groups.

Genevieve Grieves is a proud Worimi woman and respected artist, educator, field builder, film director and oral historian. She is recognised as a leader of community engagement and decolonising methodologies in Australia.
