EYEZ ON ICE 

This resource is by Queensland Aboriginal and Islander Health Council (QAIHC)  funded by the Queensland Government’s Mental Health Alcohol and Other Drug (MHAOD) branch.  

This resource provides strategies to respond to critical incidents, to reduce harm and ways to increase safety for families and people who use substances.

Summary: The Eyez on Ice Resource Kit has been designed by the Queensland Aboriginal and Islander Health Council to inform Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people on the effects, usage and impact of

The resource includes guides on receiving treatment for substance use, moderating effects of crystal (‘ice’), contacting emergency care, seeking support from peers and reconnecting back to community. This resource may be helpful for families and health workers to support people impacted by ice.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have distinct cultural methods when beginning their recovery journey. This kit highlights key steps to restoring a healthy wellbeing through and using cultural understanding.

Evidence base: This resource has undergone expert review. The Queensland Aboriginal and Islander Health Council had developed resources for The AOD-OUR-WAY 2 Project, to provide community-led responses to ice and other drug use.
